more info
MHFA training is an important approach to promoting mental health by enabling lay people to provide first aid for mental health problems and thus close the gap between those affected and professional help. The Mental Health First Aiders at the University of Siegen offer confidential and uncomplicated first aid in cases of mental distress and crises. MHFA first aiders are not therapists, but can help you to find the right contact points and facilitate short-term offers of help.
All MHFA first aiders have undergone MHFA training at the Mannheim Central Institute for Mental Health and successfully completed the exam.
What does an MHFA conversation offer?
The counseling services are a quick and uncomplicated way to find support in a mental health crisis. If you have been feeling down for some time, are often irritable or suffer from persistent stress, a conversation with an MHFA counselor can be helpful in providing orientation and referring you to professional contact points. It is particularly about assistance, support and information. All conversations are strictly confidential.
A conversation with an MHFA counselor can also be helpful if you observe the above-mentioned abnormalities in colleagues, doctoral candidates or students.
What does an MHFA interview not offer?
Conversations with MHFA counselors are not psychotherapy and are not intended to be permanent. No diagnoses are made.
