7th fib Congress 2026 - Structural Concrete 2050: Toward Carbon Neutrality, AI Design, and Robotic Construction

Under the theme “Structural Concrete 2050: Towards Carbon Neutrality, AI Design, and Robotic Construction,” the 7th fib Congress of the Fédération internationale du béton (fib) took place in Lisbon, Portugal, from June 15 to 19. The international congress provided an opportunity to learn about the latest research findings and developments in the fields of concrete and reinforced concrete construction and to discuss them with international experts.

The Chair of Structural Engineering at the University of Siegen was represented in Lisbon by Mr. Kevin Metje and Mr. Sina Yüksel, who presented two papers. 

Kevin Metje presented the paper “A novel methodology for characterizing the fiber contribution to shear resistance of UHPFRC beams based on shear crack kinematics.” In it, he presented an experimentally supported methodology for determining the fiber contribution to the shear resistance of structural members made of steel-fiber-reinforced ultra-high-performance concrete.

Sina Yüksel presented the paper “A point-by-point non-iterative method for inverse analysis of notched fiber-reinforced concrete beams.” The focus was on a non-iterative method for determining the tensile stress–crack opening relationship of steel fiber-reinforced concrete based on flexural tests.
