The School of Science and Technology at the University of Siegen is pleased to announce a new addition to its faculty: On May 20, Dean Prof. Dr. Holger Schönherr presented the certificate of appointment to Dr. Hartmut Sauer. Dr. Sauer will thus continue his many years of teaching in mechanical engineering as an honorary professor.
Dr. Sauer completed his studies in mechanical engineering at the University of Siegen and obtained his doctorate in 1999 at the Laboratory for Surface Technology with the thesis "Investigations into the adhesion of metallic layers on plastics" with magna cum laude. During his doctorate, he was already deputy head of the Laboratory for Surface Technology.
Based on his scientific work, Dr. Sauer founded IMECOTEC GmbH, which developed innovative processes for the metallization of high-performance plastics. The company was later taken over by AHC Oberflächentechnik GmbH. There and subsequently in the Aalberts Surface Treatment Group, Dr. Sauer took on various management positions up to CEO and COO and made a significant contribution to the international development of the group of companies. Since 2019, he has been Managing Director and member of the Management Board of KAP Surface Technologies.
Dr. Sauer has been closely associated with the University of Siegen for many years. He has been a regular lecturer in materials engineering and surface technology since 2011. He imparts practical knowledge on light metals, surface treatment and industrial applications.
His many years of industrial experience, numerous patents and his application-oriented research activities make Dr. Sauer a valuable asset for the practical training of students at the University of Siegen.
