HiFF pilot project: Two research applications receive start-up funding

Nils-Torben Pott

Success for two new research approaches: As part of a pilot project within the framework of HiFF funding, the Senate Commission for Research has selected the projects "TransMat" and "Practices of Social Control" for start-up funding. Both projects from Schools II and IV will receive support to prepare coordinated third-party funded projects.

At its special meeting on July 9, 2025, the Senate Commission for Research and Junior Academics selected two projects for internal funding. The "TransMat" project (spokesperson: Prof. Gutt, Schools IV) and the "Practices of social control in pedagogical and socio-educational contexts" project (spokesperson: Prof. Dollinger, Schools II) were selected from a total of nine applications submitted. The speakers had previously presented their concepts to the commission. Both projects will now be supported with around 30,000 euros each.

The funding is based on the pilot project "HiFF as an open-topic call", which was initiated by the Prorectorates for Research, Infrastructure and Networking. The funds provided serve as start-up financing to enable the preparation of joint and coordinated third-party funded projects. The aim is to support promising research approaches at an early stage so that they can be successfully transferred into larger external funding applications.
