"I look forward to it every day"
When Anja Wigger started her job in the HR department at the University of Siegen, leave was still recorded on index cards. "When leave was canceled, it was erased until at some point nothing was legible," Anja Wigger recalls with a smile. She has worked at the university since 1988, always in the HR department - and has now been honored for a total of 40 years in public service. Kathrin Jüngst (Department 4), Andreas Kiel (Department 5) and Carsten Dietrich (Schools IV) also celebrated anniversaries. Head of Human Resources Benjamin Schwarzer honored the long-serving employees together with Michael Schmidt (Staff Council).
For Anja Wigger, not only were the 40 years an anniversary, she was also celebrating her "silver wedding anniversary" - as she has been working in the same office as Michael Feuerbach for 25 years. A lot has changed. In the past, people used to smoke in the office, but later so-called "smoking mushrooms" moved in. First inside the building, then outside.
Katrin Jüngst, who has also worked in the HR department, has been in public service for 25 years. She left Bielefeld for love and came to Siegen. "I've never regretted it, I feel very much at home," says Katrin Jüngst. Although she is a fan of the Bielefeld soccer club Arminia, she also enjoys watching Sportfreunde matches.
Andreas Kiel is probably known to most students and employees at the university. After all, he is the person who manages chip keys and keys in Department 5 (Department of Infrastructural Facility Management). "Everyone has actually been with me at some point," says Andreas Kiel. He has been at the University of Siegen since 2000, first as a janitor, then in office services. At the age of 19, Andreas Kiel took the leap from Thuringia to NRW - and stayed. "I look forward to going to work every day," explains Andreas Kiel.
In Schools IV, Carsten Dietrich works as a technical assistant at the Chair of Reliability of Technical Systems & Electrical Measurement Technology under Prof. Dr. Frank Gronwald. "I'm very happy, in my job I manage the equipment and supervise students - it's very varied," says Carsten Dietrich. He has been employed at the university since 2001, where he organizes the metrological internships and supports basic research in the field of electromagnetic compatibility.
Martin Römer (40 years, Department 1), Karin Schreiber (25 years, Department 5) and Linda Schindler (25 years, University Library) were also honored for their service anniversaries.
