Research on social robots presented at international conference

Dr. Stefanie Baisch presented current research findings at the International Conference on Gerontechnology in Vancouver. The focus was on ethical issues and the effect of social robots in the everyday lives of older people.

Dr. Stefanie Baisch from Prof. Dr. Julia Haberstroh's research group took part in the International Conference on Gerontechnology, which was held this year from 25 to 29 March 2026 at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver (Canada). The conference is held every two years and this year's theme was "Empowering Aging with Gerontechnology".

As part of the conference, Stefanie Baisch gave a presentation entitled "Can a social robot really reduce loneliness?". In it, she dealt with the ethically justifiable use and acceptance of social robots - a research focus that she has been pursuing since her doctorate. In addition to her own contribution, the conference offered numerous insights into current developments in the field and promoted international scientific exchange.
