Start of the 26/27 Winter Semester
Start Your College Career Well-Prepared: Preparatory Math Course
To mark the start of the 2026–27 winter semester, the University of Siegen is offering a preparatory mathematics course from September 7 to 25, 2026. The course is designed for incoming freshmen who wish to refresh their math skills before starting their studies and prepare for the mathematical demands of their degree programs.
Over the course of three weeks, key topics from high school mathematics will be reviewed and explored in greater depth. These include, among others , arithmetic and fractions, calculus, linear algebra, geometry, and probability and statistics. In addition, participants will gain an initial insight into the mathematical methods and notation used at the university.
The preparatory course combines lectures with follow-up exercises, allowing participants to immediately apply and reinforce the material covered. At the same time, the course offers a good opportunity to become familiar with the university’s pace of learning before the official start of the academic year.
Participation in the preparatory course is voluntary and is not graded. No prior knowledge beyond high school mathematics is required.
