An Invisible Barrier: Studying with ADHD and/or Autism

On May 21, 2026, Tanja Serapinas shared valuable insights into the realities of life for people with autism and ADHD during a well-attended event. As a social worker, founder of Autism and ADHD Support, and a person on the autism spectrum with ADHD herself, she shared insights into working with neurodivergent individuals and how to create a more neuro-inclusive environment.

Misunderstood Diagnoses

Autism and ADHD remain diagnoses that are often misunderstood in society. Because the symptoms are so diverse, individual needs in daily life – and especially in college – vary greatly. This is precisely where the presentation came in: It contributed to a fundamental understanding of these diagnoses, categorized different forms and differences, and highlighted the specific challenges that people with these conditions face at universities.
