Two visiting professors invited to teach Business Analytics & Data Science in Lublin!

The Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin, Poland, is inviting two visiting professors to teach courses as part of the ATHENAWORKS project starting in the summer semester of 2026. One of the planned courses is offered by the Faculty of Economics and is described below. 

Course details

  • Study programme: Business Analytics & Data Science (Master’s level, Year 2) 
  • Course title: Analytical Thinking in Business Decision-Making 

Course description

Der Kurs fördert die Fähigkeit der Studierenden, analytisches Denken bei der Lösung von Unternehmensproblemen und der Entscheidungsfindung anzuwenden. Der Schwerpunkt liegt darauf, wie man Daten interpretiert, Schlussfolgerungen zieht und Managementprozesse mit logischen Überlegungen und evidenzbasierten Argumenten unterstützt.

  • Workload: 60 teaching hours
  • Format: fully online (synchronous), taught in English, combined with a two-week on-site visit at UMCS 
  • Teaching period: summer semester, starting on 25 February 2026, with classes conducted for 4 teaching hours per week, in accordance with the academic calendar 

Responsibilities of the visiting professor

The visiting professor is responsible for creating an original curriculum tailored to the study programme and objectives of the ATHENAWORKS project, delivering the entire course, and providing digital teaching materials. 

Online teaching will be conducted via the teaching platform specified by the host institution, while the on-site visit to UMCS will be devoted to intensive teaching and academic collaboration.

Remuneration 

Teaching activities within the framework of the ATHENAWORKS project are remunerated in accordance with the applicable project and institutional regulations.  

Eligibility criteria 

We are seeking candidates who hold a doctoral degree and have at least five years of academic teaching experience, particularly in areas such as data analysis, economic analysis, management sciences, economics, statistics, computer science, applied mathematics or related fields.
