For Lina Güldenring and Johanna Wahl, a new chapter in their lives is beginning at the University of Siegen. Thanks to a warm welcome, a shared breakfast, and a tour of the campus, their start to their studies went smoothly.

The University of Siegen welcomes its two new trainees, Lina Güldenring and Johanna Wahl. Lina’s career goal is to become a media and information services specialist. Johanna is completing an apprenticeship as an IT specialist for system integration.

Together with their training supervisors, Cathrin Wienkamp and Sarah Pieper, the two began their first day of work with a group breakfast and a tour of the campus. They had already met in person during Welcome Day in mid-June and learned quite a bit about the university at that time.

“We do this because it makes it easier for the trainees to get started in this new, exciting—and perhaps initially unsettling—phase of their lives,” explain Cathrin Wienkamp and Sarah Pieper. It’s important to them that the trainees quickly build a network and become familiar with the larger “university” system through personal connections.

Benjamin Schwarzer, Head of Human Resources, also wished them a good start. He warmly welcomed the new trainees on behalf of all their colleagues.
