Restrictions on Access to the eduVPN Web Portal

Due to a security vulnerability, the eduVPN web portal is temporarily accessible only from the university network.

Information:

Due to a security vulnerability, the eduVPN web portal will only be accessible within the university network starting at 3:00 p.m. (October 21).
Global access will be restored as soon as an update is available and has been installed.

 

Impact:

EduVPN sessions can now only be initiated and extended within the university network. It will not be possible to establish a new connection from a home office without an existing connection.
 

Possible solutions:

Extend your sessions before the restrictions take effect or while you are still on the university network. A button for this purpose will appear in the eduVPN client shortly before the session expires.
If you do not know how long your session is still valid and would like to renew it as a precaution, log in at https://eduvpn.uni-siegen.de and revoke the current session under the “User Account” tab. Then launch the eduVPN client and log in as usual. New sessions are valid for 7 days.
