Research at UTS
Bending in Siegen —this has been the guiding principle of our research at the Chair of Metal Forming Technology since our founding in 2004.
Since then, we have explored a wide variety of aspects of forming technology through numerous research projects and have defined our areas of research.
Research Areas
At UTS, we conduct research on key issues related to metal forming. In doing so, we are actively shaping the transformation of manufacturing technology. Our goal is to use teaching and research to shape metal forming technology as it evolves over time, making it more sustainable for both the environment and industry—ecologically as well as economically.
Our areas of focus include alternative tooling technologies, bending technology, and quality. Our dialogue with industry enables us to conduct practice-oriented research and development that drives solutions to real-world problems. In doing so, we use the megatrends identified by the Zukunftinstitut as a guide.
We view our research as a bridge between theory and practice. While we conduct basic research, we always keep the practical relevance and timeliness of our work in mind.
