Stephanie Neigel, aka Phalleé

The multi-instrumentalist has been exploring the musical universe since she was a child and wrote her first songs in German and English at the piano when she was 14. She further developed her craft while studying jazz vocals in Mannheim, Berlin, and Weimar. She launched her solo career while still a student, releasing four solo albums—two of which were named “CD of the Week” by SWR2—and contributed as a vocalist or co-songwriter to numerous albums, ranging from big bands to the smallest, most unconventional jazz ensembles. She has performed at numerous major national festivals as well as several international ones, such as the Sapporo Jazz Festival in Japan. She is a member of the internationally successful all-female a cappella quartet “Les Brünettes,” for which she also serves as a composer and arranger. In its 15-year history, the group has released four albums and performed over 600 concerts throughout Europe (including a performance at the German Environmental Award and the German Chamber Music Award 2022).
In March 2025, she will collaborate with the WDR Big Band on a CD production and a concert at the Philharmonie in Cologne.
She is the chosen frontwoman of the “Söhne Mannheims Jazz Department,” teaches at various music conservatories (Freiburg, Osnabrück, Cologne), and, thanks to her versatility, collaborates with a wide variety of national and international artists such as Al Jarreau, Tanita Tikaram, Peter Herbolzheimer, Edo Zanki, and the HR Big Band. Her latest work is the duo album “Phalleé & Baldu,” in which she performs under her stage name and reimagines the art-pop universe.
A native of Rheinhessen, she was awarded the “Rheinhessen Wine and Culture Prize” by her home region in 2023 for her artistic work, with a laudatory speech by Gundula Gause, and currently lives with her family in Cologne.
She also loves yoga, hiking, and meditation; she is currently delving into the “Alexander Technique” and “Mental Training for High-Performance Situations,” as well as exploring the functional vocal pedagogy of Cornelius L. Ried.
Advanced training in fundamental functional voice training, the “Lichtenberger Singing Technique,” “CVT,” the “Solar-Lunar Principle,” the “Estill Voice Method,” the “INTENSE Voice Method” (a holistic approach to the body and voice), and “self-management” broaden and complement her knowledge of vocal technique and the concepts of vocal development.
