Internship abroad step by step

- Registration for the internship abroad: Registration is required for recognition of the internship. The same rules apply for recognition as for the domestic internship. Please contact the Internship Office of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities

Financing the internship
Erasmus+ program
In addition to study visits, the Erasmus+ program also supports internships in the program countries in other European countries.
- Funding is available for internships in other European countries lasting 2-12 months (also multiple internships up to the maximum duration mentioned above)
- Special grants for students with children
- Special grants for students with disabilities
Application deadline: 1 month before the start of the internship
If you have been accepted for an internship, you can apply for funding under the EU's Erasmus+ program. The application is made via the International Student Affairs department, ISA.
Internships at EU institutions and other EU bodies
Internships at EU institutions or other EU bodies cannot be funded via the Erasmus+ program. The following DAAD programs offer funding in this case:
The Carlo Schmid Programme for Internships in International Organizations and EU Institutions
- Programme line A funds internships at international organizations, institutions of the European Union and selected non-governmental organizations.
- In program line B, it is possible to apply for advertised internship offers. You can find a link to the calls for applications here.
Short scholarship program for self-procured internships abroad
Internships at the following institutions can be funded with a short-term scholarship:
- German missions abroad (embassies, consulates general)
- International organizations (UN, EU)
- German schools abroad
