EcoMobility

The EcoMobility project aims to create an adaptive, data-driven framework for connected and electric vehicles, enabling a digital mobility ecosystem. It supports the transition to a sustainable, service-centric, and connected transportation system in European cities. By sharing data and services, the project will facilitate the cooperative development and operation of end-to-end mobility solutions, thereby improving safety, efficiency, and ecological impact, and contributing to the European Green Deal.

Ecomobility

Project description

EcoMobility is a three-year European research and innovation project designed to accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable and intelligent mobility ecosystem. It brings together 47 partners from industry and research to develop an adaptive, data-driven framework for connected and electric vehicles. The project aims to enable a digital mobility ecosystem by facilitating the sharing of data and services among all stakeholders. This will allow for the cooperative development, deployment, and operation of end-to-end mobility solutions. The project will address various aspects of the vehicle lifecycle, from efficient, DevOps-driven development to improving a vehicle's perception of its surroundings, smart cooperation among vehicles, sustainable battery management, and efficient fleet management in a Smart City context. Ultimately, EcoMobility aims to enhance the trust, safety, security, efficiency, and ecological impact of mobility solutions, paving the way for their mass-market deployment.

Bullet points for the focus points of the project:

  • Establishing DevOps practices for the continuous improvement of mobility services.
  • Enabling the runtime coupling of mobility services with edge- and cloud-based AI solutions.
  • Delivering reliable vision, perception, and localisation systems for automated vehicles.
  • Providing customised and fail-operational ADAS systems to protect vulnerable road users.
  • Developing energy-aware control and scheduling for electric vehicles, including smart Battery Management Systems (BMS).
  • Increasing public acceptance of electrified autonomous vehicles.

Methodology

1

4

Method 4 / WP 4: Embedded Systems and Computing

The overall objective of this work package is to develop and implement intelligent and advanced embedded software modules for the supply chains.

5

Method 5 / WP 5: System Integration

The objectives of WP5 are to integrate the results of the EcoMobility project supply chains into the demonstrators.

6

Method 6 / WP 6: Test, validation and demonstration

WP6 includes the final verification and validation (V&V) activities of each of the EcoMobility supply chains. The systems and subsystems integrated and tested in WP5 will be verified against the requirements and validated through the use cases defined in WP1.

7

Method 7 / WP 7: Standardisation, exploitation and stakeholder relations

The objectives of this WP are:

  • The definition and execution of exploitation strategies to ensure the applicability and efficiency of the developed technologies as well as prototypes on component, embedded control, architectural, and vehicle level.
  • The definition and execution of dissemination activities in order to make the research activities and the progress of technological developments and innovative solutions visible to external communities with potential interest in the project outcome.
  • The definition and execution of processes for inter-consortium information exchange to establish a European technological networking platform, through which further significant synergies can be achieved.
  • The definition and execution of state-of-the-art E-listening methods and tools to get a holistic sentiment analysis of the current engagements and the best and most effective pathways to get all stakeholders and communicate the project’s key outcomes.
8

Method 8 / WP 8: Project Management

The objectives of this WP are the following:

  • Overall Project Management: take care of the different contracts needed for the cooperation and regulation of the activities in the project, efficient implementation of the work plan, continuous monitoring of the tasks and use cases, tracking of milestones, deliverables and project risk. The project Manager Dr. Abuteir will lead the Consortium activities.
  • Trusted communication with the Project Officer (KDT JU), Consortium, experts, internal and external.
  • Administrative management, including the regulation and tracking of the financial contributions per partners, according to the Grant Agreement. Keep records and financial accounts as well as inform the KDT JU of its distribution.
  • Monitor that all relevant rules and regulations (i.e. contractual, legal, ethical, and security) related to the project are properly considered and any relevant conventions are respected.
