Welcome to the website of ZIMT’s“Scientific Computing” service.

The Center for Information and Media Technology operates the OMNI cluster and a number of other computing systems to provide researchers at the University of Siegen with access to scientific computing. Use of these systems is generally free of charge for members of the university community.

The OMNI Cluster

TheOMNI cluster at the University of Siegen is the central resource for high-performance computing (HPC), data science, and all other tasks in the field of scientific computing.

The cluster is used, for example, for computations in the fields of computational fluid dynamics, finite element methods, and chemical simulations. However, it is also designed for other applications (e.g., TensorFlow and PyTorch in the field of big data).

The OMNI cluster consists of a total of 439 nodes, each with 64 cores and 256 GB of RAM, as well as additional nodes for various tasks, including GPU nodes. A total of 500 TB of hard disk storage is available. The peak performance is approximately 1,044 TFlops.

The installed operating system is Rocky Linux.
