A regular degree course can be taken up if either a trial course (in degree courses that are not subject to admission restrictions) or an entrance examination (in degree courses subject to admission restrictions) has been successfully passed.
For other professionally qualified students, a trial course is required in all Bachelor's degree programs that are not subject to admission restrictions. It lasts 2 semesters and is successful if at least 40 credit points are achieved within the first 2 semesters. Only credits earned during the trial study period are taken into account for successful completion of the trial study period. Credited achievements, e.g. from a previous degree course, cannot be taken into account.
For other professionally qualified students, an entrance examination is only required for all Bachelor's degree programs with admission restrictions at the University of Siegen. No entrance examination can be taken for degree courses without admission restrictions.
Students with other professional qualifications must take the entrance examination for these degree courses in order to have a chance of gaining a place. The entrance examination is used to determine whether the subject and methodological requirements for the specific degree course chosen are met. The examination covers general and subject-related knowledge. The examination usually consists of a written and an oral part.
With the average grade of the passed entrance examination, an application must then be submitted for the summer semester by 15 January of each year and for the winter semester by 15 July of each year via the University of Siegen's online portal unisono and, in some cases, registration via hochschulstart.de in order to participate in the selection procedure. Please check the specific requirements of the individual degree programs on the respective information pages of the degree programs. The quickest way to find these is via our course finder. In the selection procedure, applicants who have successfully passed the entrance examination compete with applicants who have a high school diploma (Abitur) for places on degree programs and subjects with restricted admission.
Application for degree programs with restricted admission
Even for professionally qualified students, an application must only be made for degree programs with admission restrictions. All applicants for degree programs with restricted admission must apply via the online portal
portal.
The application for university admission for those qualified in vocational training
(please complete on the computer) should only be used for applications for the entrance examination and should be sent with the other documents to
