Tips for preparing for the assessment and perspective interview
Information from the Lüdenscheid Center for Practical Teacher Training on the assessment and perspective discussion can be found here.
Lesson discussions/ reflection meetings
Lesson discussions and joint reflections can be all the more productive and enjoyable for everyone involved if some well-known problems of this communication situation are avoided.
You can find a brief compilation of specialist literature on the subject of lesson discussions and lesson-related reflection meetings here:
Reflection on the mentoring relationship
Suggestions for discussions with the training teachers at the placement school
As part of the practical part of the internship semester, you will be accompanied by the training supervisors and teachers at your internship school. In order to make your mentoring relationships and consultations beneficial for both sides, it is a good idea to think about the content in advance.
The following document contains possible questions that you can ask yourself before, for example, the initial meeting, the advisory meetings or during joint preparation for the assessment and perspective meeting.
Meeting protocols for meetings with the training teachers at the placement school
It is a good idea to keep minutes of conversations with your mentor at the internship school to prepare for and follow up on conversations or e-mail correspondence. This allows you to track topics and recommendations at a later date. This makes it easier to determine which questions may have remained unanswered or need to be dealt with more intensively.
Final reflection on the mentoring relationship
At the end of the practical semester, it is useful to reflect on the collaboration with your training teachers. Such reflections in the portfolio can be informative for you at the beginning of your traineeship or when you start your career or begin work at a new school where you will once again be working with (often more experienced) colleagues. The following template serves as a suggestion on how to reflect on the mentoring relationship and record the most important results. However, the final reflection can also be formulated as a free text or similar.
Reflection with peers
Partner feedback Lesson observation
When reflecting on your own teaching activities, in particular teaching, it is useful to obtain feedback from other people involved in addition to your own assessment. For example, you and another trainee can observe each other's lessons from a certain perspective.
Written reflections in the portfolio
Letter of expectation - letter to myself
Writing a letter of expectation is a popular method of self-reflection.
The letter to yourself can help you to become more aware of your own attitude, your wishes and your positive and negative expectations for the internship semester and thus make them more useful.
Just give it a try!
