Honorary Professor Dr. Martin Cordes

On June 26, 2023, the University of Siegen awarded the academic title of "Honorary Professor" to Dr. Martin Cordes, Dipl.-Kfm. Dipl.-Finanzwirt (FH) StB. Martin Cordes is a native of this region and this university in the best sense of the word. He studied in Siegen and subsequently obtained his doctorate. His professional focus is on the restructuring/taxation of large medium-sized partnerships, their procedural law and international transfer pricing. Numerous noteworthy publications on these topics testify to a fruitful combination of academic and practical work.

Honorary Professor Dr. Peter Balzer

The University of Siegen appointed Dr. Peter Balzer as an honorary professor on October 27, 2017. Dr. Balzer had already studied in Cologne under Prof. Dr. Peter Krebs and thus also came to the University of Siegen as a lecturer. He has been teaching banking and capital market law since 2009. He appreciates being able to work academically alongside his profession as a lawyer and enjoys teaching. The honorary professorship is currently suspended, as Dr. Balzer was awarded an honorary professorship at the University of Cologne in June 2021.

Honorary Professor Dr. Peter Enders

Dr. Peter Enders was appointed honorary professor at the University of Siegen by Chancellor Ulf Richter on 27 October 2017. He began teaching civil procedure law in 2004 and appreciates the high level of commitment shown by Siegen students. For him, the combination of practice and academic work is an advantage for students, teaching and the profession. He enjoys discussing current problems in his seminars and takes the impetus gained from this into his work as a lawyer in Hagen.

Honorary Professor Dr. Roman Englert

The University of Siegen has appointed Dr. Roman Englert as an honorary professor. Chancellor Ulf Richter presented Dr. Englert with the certificate of appointment on 14 July 2017 and conveyed the Rectorate's congratulations. Dr. Englert has been involved in Faculty III: School of Economic Disciplines (Economics, Business Information Systems and Business Law) for more than twelve years. Dr. Englert's extraordinary academic qualifications, which include more than 40 publications in international journals and conferences as well as his habilitation at the TU Berlin, were praised.

Roman Englert has worked full-time for Deutsche Telekom AG in Bonn in various management positions since 1999. In addition to activities in personnel management, Dr. habil. Englert worked for many years as a technology consultant on several management board projects, ranging from IT transformation to the European strategy for communications networks. He is currently supporting a "university education project" for the Board of Management of Deutsche Telekom.

Englert holds a degree in computer science and business statistics, received his doctorate from the RFWU Bonn in 1998 and habilitated at the TU Berlin in 2008. His research interests include "New Media: Capacity and Optimization of Connection Setup with a Focus on Mobile Networks", "AI Machine Learning: Learning Algorithms and Self-Adapting Systems" and "Usability: Quantitative Evaluation of ICT Systems with Statistical Methods". He enriched the range of courses offered by Schools III with lecture series on applications in mobile communications (4G and 5G) as well as seminars on "Attentive Displays", "Smart Home" and "Mobile Augmented Reality". The regular excursions to the T-Gallery in Bonn are also highly appreciated by the students.

Honorary Professor Dr. Heide Schaumburg

On 4 July 2016, the Chancellor of the University of Siegen, Ulf Richter, awarded Dr. Heide Schaumburg the title of "Honorary Professor" in the presence of Professor Dr. Rainer Heurung and Professor Dr. Norbert Krawitz. On November 25, 2016, the public awarding of the honorary professorship to Dr. Heide Schaumburg by the Schools III of the University of Siegen took place. Dr. Heide Schaumburg completed her law studies at the University of Cologne. Immediately following her first state examination in law, Dr. Heide Schaumburg began her doctorate under Professor Dr. Gudian at the University of Cologne. In 1980, Dr. Heide Schaumburg became a judge at the Tax Court, seconded to the Tax Court of Cologne. From 1993 to 1998, she served as presiding judge at the Cologne Fiscal Court. She reached a further milestone in 1998/1999 when she was appointed Vice President of the Cologne Fiscal Court. Since the 2009/2010 winter semester, she has been a lecturer in business administration, in particular for the Master's program in "Accounting, Auditing and Taxation", at the University of Siegen.



Honorary Professor Dr. Peter Brödner

On October 30, 2014, the Schools III of the University of Siegen awarded Dr.-Ing. Peter Brödner the title of "Honorary Professor". Brödner studied mechanical engineering in Karlsruhe and Berlin and completed his doctorate at the Institute for Production Automation at TU Berlin. From then on, his work focused on the relationship between technology and work. Numerous publications in these fields such as "Fabrik 2000", "Der überlistete Odysseus" and "Frischer Wind in der Fabrik" bear witness to this. Prof. Dr. Hartmut Hirsch-Kreinsen from the TU Dortmund held the laudation for the socioinformatics expert.

Honorary Professor Dr. Gerrit Adrian

On July 16, 2013, the Schools III of the University of Siegen awarded Dr. Gerrit Adrian the title of "Honorary Professor". Mr. Adrian studied business administration at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main and subsequently completed his doctoral studies at the Philipps University in Marburg/Lahn. He has been a lecturer in business administration at the University of Siegen since the winter semester 04/05. The subject of his lectures are various aspects of accounting and business taxation, which he enriches with numerous examples from his professional activities.

Honorary Professor Dr. Thomas Koblenzer

On July 22, 2011, the Schools III of the University of Siegen awarded Dr. iur. Thomas Koblenzer the title of "Honorary Professor". Mr. Koblenzer studied law and economics in Osnabrück and Münster and completed an additional degree in linguistics in Siegen. Since the winter semester 04/05, he has enriched the range of courses offered by the Schools with lectures, seminars and excursions, especially in the field of corporate taxation and corporate law, restructuring and succession planning, which are rated very highly by the students.

On November 21, 2008, the Schools III of the University of Siegen awarded Dr. Martin Hill the title of "Honorary Professor". Mr. Hill studied and completed his doctorate in Siegen and has enriched the range of courses offered by the faculty for almost ten years with interesting, practice-oriented courses, particularly in the field of start-up management.

Honorary Professor Bernhard Esslinger

Mr. Esslinger has been a lecturer at the University of Siegen since 2001. In recognition of his many years of academic teaching, Schools III decided to award Mr. Esslinger the title of "Honorary Professor" on June 10, 2008.

Honorary Professor Dr. Hubertus Baumhoff

In an academic ceremony on May 19, 2004, Schools III awarded Dr. Hubertus Baumhoff the title of "Honorary Professor". Dr. Baumhoff has been a lecturer at the University of Siegen since 1998 and is associated with the Schools in the field of "International Business Taxation".

Honorary Professor Dr. Reinhard Dücker

On December 12, 2001, Dr. Reinhard Dücker was awarded the title of "Honorary Professor". Dr. Dücker completed his doctorate at the University of Siegen in 1984 and has held a lectureship at Schools III since 1992. Through his lectures on international accounting and taxation, Mr. Dücker has made a significant contribution to the internationalization of the teaching offered.

Honorary Professor Alfred Schmidt

Mr. Alfred Schmidt (†2014), former President of the Supreme Court, was awarded the title of "Honorary Professor" on November 5, 1998. Mr. Schmidt received the award because he had taught in various departments since 1973, particularly in the field of economics. Alfred Schmidt was President of the District Court in Siegen from 1983 until his retirement in 1991 and, as a committed educator, was responsible for the legal education of students at the University of Siegen in addition to his full-time work.

Prof. Dr. Niko Paech

On March 1, 2018, the Schools III of the University of Siegen awarded Dr. Niko Paech the title of "Associate Professor". After completing his doctorate at the University of Osnabrück, he habilitated at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg in 2005. His research interests include sustainability research, environmental economics and innovation research. Since 2016, the economist has been teaching "Alternative economics and sustainability", "Community-oriented economics" and "Post-growth economics" at the University of Siegen as part of the Plural Economics degree program.

Prof. Dr. Dr. Helge Peukert

On August 3, 2017, the Schools III of the University of Siegen awarded Dr. Dr. Helge Peukert the title of "Associate Professor". Mr. Peukert is an economist and social scientist. He received his doctorate in political science and economics in 1991 and his doctorate in philosophy three years later. He has been working at the University of Siegen since 2016 and teaches on the Plural Economics course, among others. Mr. Peukert deals with the history of economic thought, economic history and the limits of growth.

Prof. Dr. Marcus Schweitzer

On October 30, 2014, the Schools III of the University of Siegen awarded Dr. Marcus Schweitzer the title of "Associate Professor". Mr. Schweitzer is a mathematician and business economist. He completed his doctorate in economics at Saarland University and habilitated in business administration. He has been working as an academic advisor at the University of Siegen since the end of 2007 - his specialty is production management.
