Biology Colloquium
As part of the Biology Colloquium at the University of Siegen, the following lecture will be held on September 14, 2026, in the Unteres Schloss Lecture Hall Center:
“The Kellerwald-Edersee National Park—A Comprehensive Portrait of a Large-Scale Protected Area and UNESCO World Heritage Site”
by Mr. Achim Frede, M.Sc. in Biology, Head of the Department of Nature Conservation, Research, and Planning at the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park Office.
The event will be chaired and moderated by Prof. Dr. Klaudia Witte.
The public lecture will take place in Lecture Hall US-C 114 and begins at 5:00 p.m. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. (free admission; no registration required).

Abstract:
In this presentation, Mr. Frede will provide an expert overview ranging from the establishment of the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park, through its management and wildlife management, to the research currently underway in the park. Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity for discussion with Mr. Frede. Mr. Frede has served as the Head of the Department of Nature Conservation, Research, and Planning at the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park Office since the park’s founding. He is therefore able to draw on his 22 years of experience to provide insights and answer questions. The event will be led and moderated by Prof. Dr. Klaudia Witte.
