Prof. Dr. Bernhard Stahl at the Siegen Forum
The winter semester at Forum Siegen begins on October 29!
Mass crimes are among the most serious violations of international law. Although Germany has committed itself internationally to preventing and combating such crimes, Prof. Dr. Bernhard Stahl believes that the federal government often remains hesitant. In his lecture, he analyzes this “loud silence” in light of current international conflicts and discusses the consequences of a foreign policy that largely refrains from assertive criticism. In doing so, he explores the question of what impact this stance has on the liberal international order.

The multifaceted problems of our time make it impossible to conduct scientific research solely within the academic ivory tower. While scientific research and enlightenment cannot conjure up magic solutions or concise instructions, they are nonetheless capable of shaping many insights and decisions across all areas of society through methodological training, critical questioning, and well-informed analysis.
Acting in difficult times requires increased reflection. At Forum Siegen, therefore, we discuss problems and examine methods that are relevant to “practical application” in politics, business, and culture. Representatives from all academic disciplines are invited to speak—and to listen.
Under the overarching theme “A World in Transition?”, a total of ten events await you this semester, each focusing on different exciting topics from various disciplines.
