Piano and percussion - the combination promises fireworks of sound colors and rhythms! All the more so as the compositions of the evening also show a wide range - old masters of contemporary music such as Karlheinz Stockhausen are heard alongside minimal music, and of course the grande dame of the marimba, Keiko Abe, is not missing. Highlights of the evening include the world premieres of two new works by Siegen students Simon Jade and Lutz Wehnert. The title of the evening refers to the similarities between piano and percussion: once struck, their sound begins to fade away, allowing us to experience both the broad spectrum of what is audible and the transience of music. The concert introduces the new lecturer for classical percussion at the Institute of Music, Danilo Koch: Koch is a percussionist with the South Westphalia Philharmonic Orchestra; together with his piano partner Franziska Staubach, this year's winner of the Baden-Württemberg Art Foundation prize, he forms the Duo Miro, which is dedicated to exploring the sound world of piano and percussion.
