Abstract:

This lecture is dedicated to Kant's dynamic sublime and the question of what this experience means for our relationship with ourselves and others. In the first part, a connection is made between sublimity and humility. In the second part, the experience of the dynamic sublime is analyzed. Theses on self-relationships and relationships with other people are already addressed here. However, the focus is initially on the physical dimension and the feelings in this experience. Against the background of this analysis, the third part asks what this means for Kant's view of the relationship between self and other.
