Dr. Alexander F.J. Hasenau

Alexander Hasenau combines extensive international management experience in the automotive industry with academic expertise in strategic procurement and supply management. After completing vocational training as tool engineering technician for punching and forming technologies, he studied Industrial Engineering and Management at the University of Siegen, specializing in Strategic Management and Product Development. During his studies, he gained international experience by leading a production process optimization project in the United States.
 
He began his professional career in international procurement within the automotive industry, working for both family-owned and publicly listed companies. In this role, he also gained international experience through a one-year assignment in Russia. He subsequently managed global automotive programs as a Program Manager before assuming leadership responsibility for international project management teams as Head of Project Management. Since 2024, he has been leading the Project and Portfolio Management function of an internationally successful family-owned company specializing in connectivity solutions for the automotive industry.
 
Alongside his executive responsibilities, Mr. Hasenau completed his doctoral studies (Dr. rer. pol.) at the University of Siegen between 2020 and 2025. His research focuses on the strategic challenges of modern procurement organizations. His work examines supplier selection decisions and the underlying organizational processes, routines, and structures that shape procurement functions. In addition, his research explores the success factors of family-owned and non-family-owned firms in procurement management, with particular emphasis on risk management and sustainability in global supply chains. By integrating rigorous academic research with extensive leadership experience, Mr. Hasenau contributes to the advancement of resilient, sustainable, and strategically aligned procurement management.
