Medical Informatics: Advanced Training for Physicians

Strong practical focus, modular structure, and experienced instructors from the fields of medicine and computer science

Weiterbildung "Medizinische Informatik"

Part-time continuing education with flexible start dates

Digitalization is fundamentally transforming clinical, healthcare delivery, and administrative processes. As a result, additional qualifications at the intersection of medicine and computer science are becoming increasingly relevant for physicians. Through the continuing education program in Medical Informatics, you will gain in-depth knowledge of key future-oriented topics such as telemedicine, clinical data management, interoperability, and data security.

Based on the “Medical Informatics” course catalog of the German Medical Association, the University of Siegen offers a total of 10 modules with a workload of 240 hours. The modules are highly practice-oriented, accredited by the Westphalia-Lippe Medical Association, and earn CME credits . Thanks to the modular structure and the combination of self-study, online, and in-person phases, the continuing education program can be seamlessly integrated into the daily medical practice. You can start at any module.

To earn the additional certification, you must complete 480 hours of work at a medical informatics facility or in a healthcare IT department in addition to the modules—which can be substituted with a project, for which our continuing education supervisors are available to provide guidance.
