Information for prospective students
Chemistry opens up an exciting view of the world - researching, fascinating and versatile. It is omnipresent in nature, food, cosmetics and technology.
Those who understand chemistry perceive the world differently - and that's exactly what you'll be teaching later on. On the chemistry teacher training course, you will learn how to communicate scientific relationships in an exciting, understandable and creative way.
My chemistry teaching degree
After the first semester, I already knew that I wanted to stay here!
I had already taken chemistry as an advanced course in my A-levels and was impressed. But that wasn't enough for me. I simply wanted to know even more, but at the same time I also wanted to inspire others about what fascinates me so much: The world of chemistry.
As a chemistry teacher training student at the University of Siegen, you are one of only a few, but that helped me enormously: Through study groups, joint activities after a stressful day in the lab or simply having lunch together in the canteen: you never felt alone. The contact with the didactics department was also always great, you weren't just a number, but you really had the feeling that you were being listened to and could actively help shape things.
If I had to start again, I would choose University of Siegen again, despite the steep hill!

Your studies at a glance
The Bachelor's degree course in Chemistry for Teachers offers a sound scientific education in the first semesters and a didactic education building on this in the higher semesters. The course is designed so that it can be completed within six semesters. The course can only be started in the winter semester and the language of instruction is German. You will then need to plan another four semesters for the Master's degree.
