Equal Opportunity Division
“Diversity Is Our Calling”
We advise and support university members and university leadership on issues related to equal opportunity. This includes planning and implementing measures to establish and further develop an organizational culture free of discrimination and based on mutual respect.
Students and university staff receive individualized counseling and needs-based support services in the areas of gender equality, family and work-life balance, diversity, and inclusion.

Our actions are based on the following principles:
We view equity of opportunity as a shared responsibility of the entire university. Therefore, we work closely with university leadership, Schools, central administrative units, committees, student representatives, as well as external partners and networks, and promote formal collaborations. The office’s information, services, and procedures are designed to be as accessible and inclusive as possible to ensure that all members of the university community can participate.
We do not view the various dimensions of social inequality in isolation from one another, but rather examine their potential overlaps and/or interactions, and we continually reflect on existing power relations. In doing so, we also recognize the university itself as a producer of mechanisms of inclusion and exclusion.
We adhere to high professional standards, ensure confidentiality in our consultations and regarding reports brought to our attention, and prioritize the perspectives and protection needs of (potentially) disadvantaged and marginalized individuals. We always disclose the goals and results of our work transparently to strengthen trust and ensure accountability.
We are committed to ensuring that equal opportunity becomes a standard practice in everyday university life—in teaching, student studies, research, administration, and higher education policy. We continuously pursue professional development, regularly reflect on our practices—which are grounded in an open culture of learning from mistakes—and are always open to suggestions and criticism.
