At School II of the University of Siegen, the Institute of Music, together with Architecture and Art, represents the artistic disciplines. Our focus on music as a living practice and a multifaceted field of learning and research actively contributes to the university’s academic diversity while also benefiting from numerous interdisciplinary collaborations that extend beyond the Schools. Through numerous performances and other public activities, we maintain a presence in the city and region and engage with the local community.

These joint activities are coordinated by the Institute Assembly. Students are represented in the Institute Assembly by elected representatives. The Institute Assembly is chaired by the Institute Spokespersons. Currently, the following topics are being developed in working groups, in which representatives from all student categories can participate:

• Media Presence

In January 2024, the Institute of Music adopted the “Future 2030” concept paper, which aims, on the one hand, to implement a reform of music teacher education at the Siegen campus by 2030, and second, to expand the music degree program portfolio based on existing artistic and academic quality.
