Language Learning Tandem
Tandem language learning is a form of autonomous and intercultural learning. Language learning tandems offer the opportunity to improve foreign language skills in a targeted way through interaction with native speakers while gaining intercultural insights. In addition, you can choose topics in your own areas of interest and work specifically on certain skills.
Once a match has been successfully arranged, the tandem pairs meet at a location and time of their choosing. Each meeting lasts 90 minutes, during which you’ll use one language for the first 45 minutes and the other for the next 45 minutes. You’ll meet at least five times in total.
Upon successful completion and submission of the assignments from the five tandem sessions, you have the opportunity to receive a tandem participation certificate. During the semester, the Language Center also offers counseling appointments, optional materials, and meeting spaces.
Our Language Tandem Program
We are very excited that our language tandem is kicking off a new round in the 2026/27 winter semester!
Here’s all the latest information at a glance:
- Introductory meeting: You’ll get to meet your language partner in person.
- Tandem meetings: After you’ve met your language partner, you can arrange to meet digitally or, if possible, in person.
- Materials: Online materials are available in the Tandem Moodle room.
- Certificate of Participation: Certificates of participation will be issued upon successful completion and submission of the assignments for the 5 tandem sessions
Registration Period: September 1 – November 1, 2026
