Exchange on the topic of virtual teaching with international partner universities

On 15 January, the first meeting on "virtual teaching cooperation with international partner universities" took place, which was organized by the Vice Dean's Office for International Affairs of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. At the meeting, Prof. Multhammer reported on his experiences of running a COIL with our partner university in Bologna, Italy, and Dr. Eva Willis gave insights into her joint course with our partner university Georgia State in the USA. Their reports made it clear that the students found the contact with fellow students from abroad very enriching and that working together on a project was an important intercultural experience. The participants discussed implementation options, hurdles and the benefits for teaching and their own teaching experience. Overall, the exchange of experiences underpinned the many advantages of such international teaching cooperation: it offers a good opportunity for internationalization at home and creates meeting spaces for students to get to know the respective partner universities better and perhaps decide to spend time abroad themselves. For lecturers, it creates opportunities to deepen existing professional networks, opens up new contacts and opens up new project ideas beyond the field of teaching. Due to the positive response to this working meeting, the Vice Dean's Office for International Affairs would like to invite students to regular information and exchange meetings within Faculty I from now on.
