The FIT Student Living Room in the Westfalenpost!

In July, the Westfalenpost visited the Student Living Room and spoke with international students.

A Westfalenpost article shows

how important such gathering places can be for settling in and feeling at home in a new environment.

We are very happy about Westfalenpost's visit at the Student Living Room and their exchange with some of our international students about their experiences in Siegen. You can read the article here.
Many thanks to all the students who shared their stories!

About the Student Living Room

The Student Living Room was created as part of the “Forging International Talents – FIT in Siegen” project. The program is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with support from the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space (BMFTR).

The SLR is an open meeting place for all students to exchange ideas, make new connections, and feel a little bit at home. In addition, regular events such as game nights, creative sessions, meditation sessions, and self-care activities are offered. During opening hours, student staff members serve as “hosts” on site; they are there to listen, answer questions, and, if needed, refer students to appropriate university resources. The SLR does not see itself as a counseling center, but rather as a first point of contact on an equal footing. In a respectful and confidential atmosphere, it supports both German and international students in settling into life in Siegen and getting off to a good start in their studies.
