University of Siegen Launches International Content Partnership
The University of Siegen is further expanding its international presence: 2026 marks the start of a content partnership with Research in Germany, an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research to attract international researchers to Germany as a hub for science. The University of Siegen will use the Research in Germany website, newsletter, and social media to publicize selected research topics in English around the world.
At the heart of the content partnership are themed months that focus on current research fields at various universities and scientific institutions, such as artificial intelligence and the future of medicine. The themed month "Biotechnology" kicks off in March. Professor Maria Brehm from the University of Siegen will present her research project, which involves a 3D intestinal model on a microchip to better study dangerous bleeding.
"Research in Germany" compiles information on Germany's research landscape, presenting outstanding projects and reporting on innovative developments from universities and research institutions. The initiative specifically addresses scientists worldwide who are interested in collaborations, research visits, or permanent scientific work in Germany.
The partnership offers many benefits for the University of Siegen: it provides an international stage for its research, expands global collaborations, and helps attract more researchers from abroad to Siegen. With three Collaborative Research Centers, two Research Training Groups, and the Cluster of Excellence "Color meets Flavor," the University of Siegen stands out as an internationally oriented hub of research. It has also shown strong growth in its proportion of third-party funding, particularly for projects with international participation. The initiative underlines how the German higher education landscape is built on a foundation of medium-sized institutions with internationally visible, cutting-edge research, such as the University of Siegen.
