University of Siegen launches international content partnership
The University of Siegen is further expanding its international presence: 2026 marks the start of a content partnership with Research in Germany, an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research to attract international researchers to Germany as a science location. The University of Siegen will use the Research in Germany website, newsletter and social media to place selected research topics in English around the world.
At the heart of the content partnership are themed months that focus on current research fields at various universities and scientific institutions, such as artificial intelligence or medicine of the future. The theme month "Biotechnology" kicks off in March. Prof. Dr. Maria Brehm from the University of Siegen will be presenting her research project. She and her team are developing a 3D intestinal model on a microchip in order to better research dangerous bleeding.
"Research in Germany" bundles information on the German science system, presents outstanding research projects and reports on innovative developments from universities and research institutions. The initiative specifically addresses scientists worldwide who are interested in collaborations, guest stays or permanent scientific work in Germany.
The partnership opens up clear strategic advantages for the University of Siegen: it makes its research more visible internationally, expands global collaborations and helps to attract more researchers from abroad to Siegen. With three Collaborative Research Centers, two Research Training Groups and the Cluster of Excellence "Color meets Flavor", the University of Siegen underlines its profile as a research-intensive, internationally oriented location. The proportion of third-party funding is also growing steadily, particularly for projects with international participation. The initiative enables the University of Siegen to underline that the diversity and strength of the German higher education landscape also includes medium-sized universities with internationally visible cutting-edge research.
