The Center for Gender Studies (Gestu_S) at the University of Siegen has awarded the Wolfgang Popp Prize 2025 for outstanding theses in the field of gender studies to Niklas Pütz. The psychology student (Schools II) was honored for his master's thesis "Development and evaluation of gender-specific items for the assessment of ADHD in women".

The innovative work on the diagnosis of ADHD represents an independent contribution to the field of gender studies and psychology. The starting point of Niklas Pütz's research achievement is the observation that although the first studies on the gender-specific symptoms of ADHD have been available for 20 years, the diagnostic tools for determining the disease have not been changed. The work thus makes an important initial contribution to the development of gender-equitable diagnostics.

After a laudatory speech by PD Dr. Kristian Kleinke, who paid tribute to Niklas Pütz's exceptional research achievements, Bernhard Nolz, member of the Board of Trustees, presented Niklas Pütz with the congratulations of the August von Platen Foundation, which provides financial support for the Wolfgang Popp Prize.

Dr. Uta Fenske, Gestu_S coordinator, presented the certificate with the prize money of 1,000 euros to the lucky winner, who presented his work at a festive event.

The award ceremony took place after the Gestu_S members' meeting and offered the opportunity for further discussion during the subsequent exuberant drink.

Eva Obier's (Faculty I, Literature, Culture, Media) work entitled "A Feminist Book History - Svende Merian: The Death of Prince Charming and its Reception" made it onto the shortlist and into the final round of the Wolfgang Popp Prize 2025.

The Wolfgang Popp Prize commemorates the literary scholar Wolfgang Popp, who was one of the early initiators of gender studies in Germany.
