Maximilian Flack

Wirtschaftsinformatik/Menschzentrierte Informationssysteme - Research Assistant

Biography

Maximilian Flack studied Media Informatics (B.Sc. and M.Sc.) at Furtwangen University. During his master’s program, he worked as a research assistant in the field of multiplayer VR development. This work, combined with an accompanying research project, resulted in a collaborative multiplayer VR application built using the Unity game engine, as well as a practical guide to the development and technical setup of multiplayer VR applications, which also explains the fundamental concepts and challenges of multiplayer development.

In his master’s thesis, he conducted a comparative study of the development of colocated VR multiplayer applications using the Unreal Engine and Godot game engines. In particular, he examined the technical capabilities and development processes of both engines with regard to the implementation of shared immersive experiences. Both the master’s thesis and the previously published multiplayer VR guide have been made publicly available.

Since September 2026, Maximilian has been a research assistant on the IN.SiTu project. There, he focuses on the design and development of immersive applications and systems in the context of virtual reality. His professional interests lie particularly in the fields of virtual reality, game development, and web development.
