AI Future Center NRW
The Zukunftszentrum KI NRW supports small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and their employees in effectively integrating artificial intelligence and digital technologies into their daily work. The University of Siegen provides technology-focused and human-centered consulting: Together with companies, it analyzes specific applications of AI and supports their implementation. In addition, practical training and continuing education programs are offered to help employees develop the skills needed to work with AI. Particular emphasis is placed on a participatory approach that involves company management, works councils, and employees alike.
Project Description
As part of an intensive consulting project lasting several months, the Zukunftszentrum KI NRW supported BzH gGmbH—an educational institution with approximately 150 employees—in identifying and testing suitable applications for AI in everyday educational practice. The time-consuming documentation requirements associated with vocational preparatory education programs (BvB) were identified as a key area of application: An AI-powered tool generates complete draft texts for support and counseling documentation based on just a few keywords and follow-up questions, which are then reviewed by specialists. Since the project involves working with sensitive data from particularly vulnerable young people, a locally operated language model (Mixtral 8x22B) was set up specifically for this purpose; it does not transfer any data to external providers and was subject to continuous data protection oversight throughout the process.
