The project examines the influence of a social media channel focused on the Siegen-Wittgenstein region on the subject of dementia, early detection and related topics.

Project description

The potential of social media for health promotion, primary and secondary prevention has been successfully used for many years in the context of health campaigns for a wide range of diseases, but has so far been neglected for the prevention of dementia, despite the efforts of the WHO.

As part of the project, a social media channel on the topics of dementia and early detection will be created and continuously updated with relevant information, facts from research and event announcements. Despite its theoretically international reach, the channel focuses on the Siegen-Wittgenstein region and is intended to contribute to greater awareness of the issues in the region.

The development of the channel, in particular its reach and contact with the target group, as well as the influence of the channel on ongoing projects are being scientifically evaluated.

Aims of the project

The overarching aim of the PräSent project is to raise awareness of the topic of dementia and in particular the early detection of dementia through educational work. In particular, the channel is intended to present the regionally-focused services of the Dementia Guides Siegen-Wittgenstein and thus make dementia care management better known among younger age groups.

To this end, a regionally focused social media campaign on the topic of early detection of dementia and dementia care management is to be designed, implemented and evaluated in terms of reach, acceptance and impact.
