Rome Seminar 2010
Stories of the History of Mathematics
Anyone who wants to become familiar with science must not merely reach for the ripe fruits—they must also take an interest in how and where they grew.
- J.C. Poggendorff (1796–1877)
This year, the history of mathematics is the focus of the Rome seminar. Throughout the winter semester, various aspects of this topic will be discussed, and individual presentations will be prepared for the intensive session in Rome from February 28 to March 7, 2010. A prerequisite for the seminar is an interest in mathematics and the history of mathematics; it is suitable for students starting in their first semester.
