Shape Your Future, Starting in Siegen
The Bachelor's degree program provides a comprehensive introduction to key aspects of Christian theology and its role in shaping European culture. It takes an interdenominational approach by exploring topics from both Roman Catholic and Protestant perspectives. By examining these perspectives side by side, students will gain an understanding of the differences and similarities between these traditions as well as their confessional influences and social impacts. While denominational distinctions are acknowledged, they are approached with critical reflection and constructive dialogue.
Career Prospects
The Bachelor of Christian Theologies from an Ecumenical Perspective is designed for students who will encounter denominational and religious diversity in their careers and want to engage with these differences thoughtfully and appropriately.
The bachelor’s degree in Christian theologies from an Ecumenical perspective prepares students for professional roles beyond traditional church work, specifically in fields where religious and denominational diversity is significant. Such career areas include politics, for example in cultural and educational policy; business fields like diversity management and personnel management; development work that respects religious norms; public administration activities such as urban planning; and social work, including youth work in religiously diverse urban areas. This focus intentionally targets professions where understanding and engaging with interdenominational and religious diversity is crucial for effective and appropriate action.

Building bridges
The Christian Theologies in Ecumenical Perspective course has profoundly shaped my understanding of faith. I especially appreciate how it encourages students to explore perspectives across denominations. Engaging with both Protestant and Catholic traditions has helped me move beyond denominational boundaries. By combining this major with a second subject and the Studium Generale, I’ve been able to discover new fields and see connections between disciplines. The program is also valuable for my future career, as it equips me with the skills to build bridges between different faiths and cultures—a skill that is increasingly important in today’s society.
