From March 2026 the International Office of the University of Siegen offers Santander Scholarships for summer and winter schools or faculty-led excursions abroad.the scholarship includes a single contribution of 500 Euro for programmes within Europe and 1,000 Euro for programmes outside of Europe.
AUSTRIA
University of Vienna: univie: winter school for Cultural Historical Studies 2027
Date: January 29 - February 12, 2027

Fees: 1,790.00 € (additional 26.20 € for non-degree admission)
The topic of the winter school is “The Discovery of Modernity – Vienna Around 1900”. The univie: winter school takes place in Vienna, where traces of the outstanding culture of the late 19th and the beginning of the 20th century are still visible.
The two-week program combines first class academic courses with an extensive social and cultural program. Vienna’s rich cultural heritage, especially the museums, will lead to a thorough understanding of the input of the fin-de-siècle on the modernization of Europe.
This unique program consists of high-level lectures in the morning and guided excursions in the city of Vienna as well as visits to various museums in the afternoon. Vienna also offers visitors plenty of opportunities to explore additional cultural and historical sights, at their leisure.
The academic course environment encourages intercultural and social exchange and favors mutual understanding within the international student population. Participants thus broaden their horizons, meet colleagues from different fields of study, make friends for life and build connections for their future professional careers.

Tallinn University: Tallinn Winter Schools 2027

Tallinn Winter School 2027 is open — three weeks on a city-centre campus, in small international groups, taught by people who work in their field: Russian or Estonian language, photography, story-telling, IT and design, and education. Culture programme is included.

JAPAN
Keio University: Keio Short-Term Japanese Studies Program (KJSP) 2027
Date: February 8 - 10, 2027
Application (early bird): November 4, 2026 (9:00 am, Japanese Standard Time)
Special Partner University Fee: 370,000 JPY (Accommodation fee included). An additional fee of around 9,000 JPY will be charged by a company handling those payments.
This program brings together around 15 Keio students and 25 international students from our university-wide student exchange partner universities to learn about Japan from various perspectives. It consists of 90-minute lectures (including group discussions), workshops, and off-campus activities. In the past years, participants have been mostly undergraduate students, with a few graduate students, from a variety of academic fields.

Elementary course (A2 level in CEFR scale):JLPT N4 level This class is for students who are JLPT N4 level or equivalent. Students in this level are able to listen and comprehend conversations encountered in daily life and generally follow their contents, provided that they are spoken slowly.
You CAN NOT apply to this class if you have no background in learning Japanese.
Intermediate course (B1 level in CEFR scale):JLPT N3 ～N2 level This class is for students who are JLPT N3~N2 level or equivalent. Students in this level are able to listen and comprehend conversations in everyday situations, spoken at near-natural speed, and state his/her own opinion.

National Dong Hwa University: NDHU Winter Camp “Community Sustainability: Indigenous Culture and Innovative Tourism”

Through this two-week program, students will not only learn about sustainability, Indigenous culture, and community-based tourism, but will also have opportunities to experience Hualien through Indigenous cultural activities, local cuisine, cycling, kayaking, community visits, and many other hands-on activities.
