Internships abroad: EOP, BFP and voluntary school internships

Aptitude and orientation internship (EOP) abroad

  • The aptitude and orientation internship can be completed abroad.
  • In order to provide you with the best possible support in planning your aptitude and orientation internship abroad, you should attend a consultation at the ZLB at the beginning of your planning, at least three months before the start of your practical phase (contact via: ZLB Internship Office at praxisphasen@zlb.uni-siegen.de).
  • You are responsible for finding an internship school abroad according to your type of school. Please note that schools at which you yourself were a student cannot be selected.
  • Attendance of the accompanying university courses, held at the University of Siegen, is also obligatory in the case of an aptitude and orientation internship abroad. Seminars are specially marked for this purpose in each semester.
  • Completion of the portfolio for the aptitude and orientation internship is also obligatory.
  • Funding may be available for an aptitude and orientation internship abroad. Erasmus+ offers excellent funding opportunities, particularly for internships in Europe. Information on funding opportunities can be found on the website of the International Student Affairs (ISA) department.
  • Please note: If you complete your aptitude and orientation internship abroad, you are responsible for ensuring that you have adequate insurance cover.
  • An aptitude and orientation internship abroad may be recognized for the mandatory stays abroad in the teaching degree program in modern foreign languages. The requirements of the respective language must be observed and fulfilled.     and the Romance Studies Department. You should also talk to the teacher responsiblefor you
    of the language you are studying.


Professional internship (BFP) abroad

The professional internship can also be completed abroad. This gives you the opportunity to strengthen your intercultural and foreign language skills and gain experience in an international context. The following applies:

  • You are responsible for finding an internship institution abroad based on the focus you have set for your professional field internship with the help of the portfolio.
  • If necessary, you can seek advice in an interview at the ZLB. Contact: berufsfeldpraktikum@zlb.uni-siegen.de
  • Attending the accompanying university events at the University of Siegen, organized by the ZLB, is also mandatory in the case of a professional internship abroad.
  • Completion of the portfolio for the professional internship is also obligatory.

Voluntary school internship abroad

Voluntary school internships abroad can be registered and completed at any time. Registration takes place before the start of the school internship using the printed registration form
at the ZLB. Please note the following information:

  • Funding may be available for voluntary internships abroad. Erasmus+ offers very good funding opportunities, especially for internships in Europe. Information on funding opportunities can be found on the website of the International Student Affairs (ISA) department.
  • Please note: If you are doing a voluntary school internship abroad, you are responsible for ensuring that you have adequate insurance cover.
