Source research, experiments, measurements, surveys or interviews - there are many ways to generate research data. Processing, archiving and, if necessary, publishing this data is the task of Research Data Management. - For one year, all members of the university had unlimited access to the eBook series "Cambridge Companions" published by Cambridge University Press.
The approximately 700 handbooks with essays on literature, philosophy, history, religion and music have been used extensively in recent months.
After evaluating the statistics, the university library has now purchased 37 eBooks and is making them permanently available via the Katalog plus. - Open access publishing in journals published by Cambridge University Press
Siegen University Library has been participating in the DFG-funded alliance license for journals published by Cambridge University Press (CUP) for many years. This gives members of the University of Siegen access to articles from over 360 eJournals in a wide range of disciplines.
This license was extended to a "Read and Publish" agreement for the period 2019 to 2021. - On January 1, the law on academic universities in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia comes into force; like the other comprehensive universities, the University of Siegen is renamed the University Comprehensive University. 1972
- The Siegen University of Applied Sciences is founded on August 1, 1972, and emerges from two predecessor institutions: the Siegerland department of the Westphalia-Lippe University of Education and the Siegen-Gummersbach University of Applied Sciences, with its Siegen and Gummersbach departments, are transferred to the new university.
- The Siegen University Library is initially spread across numerous university buildings: two in Siegen, three in the then independent Hüttental and one in Gummersbach, 60 km away. It takes 141,000 volumes from predecessor institutions into its collection. The library owes an old collection of scientific and technical works from the 19th century to the former Wiesenbauschule Siegen, the oldest predecessor institution of the university of applied sciences and thus of the comprehensive university.
- Library director: Dr. phil. Walter Barton (1972-1987).
