The Katalog plus provides access to all media purchased and licensed by the library. Articles can be found there just as easily as a wide range of freely available content.
In addition, access to interlibrary loans, an overview of the semester apparatus and access to the library's databases are integrated into Katalog plus.

The media available in the University Library are listed in the Katalog plus. There you will also find information on the location of the desired media, whether they are available for loan or whether they are currently borrowed by another reader.
The tips for searching in the Katalog plus and our course offer for literature research provide the most important information for use.
Media can be suggested for purchase using the purchase suggestion form. If the library card number is entered here, the title can also be reserved. An e-mail will inform you when the item is available.

If in the Katalog plus of Siegen University Library the location of a title is "Stack" or "Magazin", this title is in an area which is not freely accessible. The title can be requested using the "Order" button, it will be made available at the respective circulation desk and an e-mail will be sent when the title is available.
In the menu item Courses" / "Semesterapparate in the Katalog plus menu item lists all of the lecturers' course reserves, sorted alphabetically by surname, with filter options and a search function to help you find the course reserve you are looking for quickly.
When searching for titles in the Katalog plus the owner and location of the course reserve are shown in the detailed display.
The access ID to the Katalog plus can NOT be used by non-university library users for access via VPN or Shibboleth, i.e. "from home".
However, the licensed e-resources can be used free of charge at the PC workstations of the University Library.
The "Catalogue" tab lists all media from the holdings of Siegen University Library. It contains various types of media, such as books, eBooks, journals, eJournals, DVDs and more.
The tab"Articles and more" enables a search in the extensive databases of the EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) and thus provides, in addition to "normal books or eBooks", in particular so-called dependent publications such as articles from journals, individual chapters from books or articles from anthologies. Not all resources are licensed. Links "To full text" should lead to the full text of the resources, other links may work, but do not have to. The link "How do I get it" can be used to check whether a resource is available online, in the library collection or via interlibrary loan.
The menu item"eResources" provides an overview of freely accessible (marked in green) and library-licensed (marked in yellow) databases and electronic journals that are useful for further education, research or access to electronic full texts.
Not only bibliographic databases are available, but also full-text databases, fact databases, subject bibliographies and reference works, which are sorted alphabetically within the subject classification; the offers marked as TOP resources are always at the top of the overview.
Offers marked in yellow are usually bound to the publishers' license conditions and can therefore only be used within the university network or via VPN. network, in some cases the provider also offers login via Shibboleth is possible.
When searching in the "Articles and more" section, hits from many different databases are displayed, not all resources are licensed. Links "Zum Volltext" should take you to the full text of the resources, other links may work, but do not have to. It is better to use the link "How do I get it" to check whether a resource is available online, in the library collection or via interlibrary loan.

If no link to the full text is offered, for example because the reference is a printed book, a search for availability can be started via the icon "How do I get it".
Not all hits belong to the holdings of Siegen University Library. The information under "How do I get it" to the right of a hit provides detailed information. On the following page information whether the book is in the library collection or available via interlibrary loan is listed.
Subject-specific bibliographies and databases are available for searching for articles from other sources and can be accessed via the "eResources" tab in the Katalog plus.

The "My favourites" list can disappear if the ID number of the account changes, e.g. the surname has changed due to marriage or the user status is no longer student but employee or non-university affiliated user (or vice versa).
The Central User Services at benutzung@ub.uni-siegen.de can often help to find the "old ID" and link it to the new account.
