PC workstations, WLAN and more
PC workstations with internet access are available at all library locations and can be used free of charge for academic purposes.
Notebooks or tablets can be brought into the library, there are enough sockets and charging facilities available. Via eduroam (WLAN) provides access to the internet. Notebook bags may not be taken into the library; the library's carrying baskets can be used to transport accessories.
Use of the university's WLAN via eduroam is possible at all library locations. The ZIMT Support Desk is the point of contact if you have any problems using it.
- Firefox for accessing the Internet, including the Katalog plus, as well as the licensed databases, eBooks and eJournals
- Adobe Acrobat Reader and other display programs for special file formats, e.g. PDF documents
- LibreOffice, contains programs for word processing (Writer), spreadsheets (Calc), presentations (Impress) and creating drawings (Draw), as well as a database management system (Base) and a formula editor (Math)
It is not possible to install additional programs!
Yes, files from the Internet or edited documents from LibreOffice can be saved:
- temporarily on drive D: images, documents or downloads (local hard disk)
- on a USB stick you bring with you(drive E)
- in cloud storage services, e.g. the university cloud Sciebo
- they can also be sent by email
No, printing is only possible at special print stations. possible.
230-volt sockets are available at many workstations at all University Library locations so that you can work without a battery.
You can connect to the university's WLAN via eduroam The login is done with the ZIMT ID or the access data of the home university if you are not a member of the University of Siegen.

Borrow games and sports equipment from the library
Looking for an active break on the LEOwiese?
The University Library (UB) and the Center for University Sports (ZB-SB) provide a permanent selection of play and sports equipment - easy to borrow in the library.
All items are listed in the Katalog plus of the University Library and can be searched for. Items can be borrowed with a valid library card at the circulation desk of the Main Library Adolf-Reichwein-Straße (AR) or the Branch Library Paul-Bonatz-Straße (PB).
Borrowing conditions:
The play and sports equipment can be borrowed "for use on the LEOwiese" for the respective day - please return it daily by the closing time of the respective library. If the loan period is exceeded, the usual fine for overdue loans will be charged.
The borrower is liable for loss or gross damage.
So: Get out into the countryside, get playing - have fun!
Dos and don'ts
You are now allowed to wear jackets and coats in the library. We kindly ask you to use our cloakrooms for rain-wet outerwear.
Please leave your bags and backpacks in our lockers in the entrance area of the library. Only slim cases (= laptop sleeves), mini handbags or similar are permitted.
You can take water and tea in reclosable drinking containers into the library and small, dry snacks (e.g. nuts, muesli bars) may also be consumed in the library. For all other food and drinks, you can use the Bib-Café in the Main Library AR.
In addition, we ask you to keep quiet, especially in the individual study areas, so that everyone can study and work undisturbed. We also ask you to go to the designated areas (e.g. foyer) to make phone calls.
In addition, no animals are permitted on the university premises, with the exception of assistance or guide dogs.
