If you are planning to stay in Siegen for longer than three months, registering at the town hall's citizens' office is an important first step after your arrival.
The registration certificate that you receive there is not only necessary in order to open a bank account bank account, but above all it sets a number of processes in motion. What you need:
" Your passport* (if you have dual nationality, please bring both passports with you)
" A confirmation of residence
" For married couples and/or families: Marriage certificate and marriage documents in the original and as a certified German translation as well as birth certificates of children and both parents of the children incl. translation (if applicable)
* If the date of the entry stamp in your passport is illegible, please bring a flight ticket or another document showing the date of arrival.
Important: If you change your place of residence during your stay, you must re-register.
To re-register, you also need a landlord's certificate and your passport, which you must present at a personal appointment at the Citizens' Registration Office. When moving, please also note that you must inform your bank, health insurance company, the HR department if you are employed and the LBV, and all other offices where you have registered your address, of your change of address.
