Invitation
Dear research assistants
In the current summer semester, you will again have the opportunity to present your dissertation projects to a wider circle of colleagues at the doctoral colloquium. Please make a note of these two dates:
1st doctoral colloquium: 13.05. (Wed) from 15:00 in the FeinHier
2nd doctoral colloquium: 09.07. (Thu) from 14:30 in the meeting room of the department (PB)
In addition, there are some changes: from now on, one colloquium will always take place in the city and the other colloquium at the Paul-Bonatz-Campus. In addition, the form of the colloquium will be extended. Instead of a longer lecture, the research project can be communicated via a picture. Since architectural thinking is strongly visual and architectural ideas are not only created in words, but also in sketches, diagrams and spatial ideas, a picture ties in directly with this way of thinking and makes it possible to convey concepts between abstract research ideas and concrete understanding more easily than is possible with a text.
While the image makes complex relationships simultaneously and intuitively tangible or comprehensible, this is not possible with a text, which has to break down the facts to be researched discursively and stringently. Especially in the early stages of research, the image can therefore be an easier introduction to the presentation of one's own research project than a text, which requires greater linguistic and argumentative clarity.
You are cordially invited to bring pictures to the next doctoral colloquium, which you can use to present your research project to the other participants. Each presentation should last about 5 minutes. It would be great if we could get as many impressions as possible in order to initiate a lively exchange on this basis. Anyone who would like to give a classic presentation is of course welcome to do so at any time.
Best regards,
Petra (Lohmann)
