Long night of music

Kolja Lessing

one of the most versatile musicians of our time, has given formative impulses to musical life as a pianist and violinist through his combination of interpretative and academic work.

In 2008 he was awarded the German Critics' Prize for Music, and in 2010 the television documentary "Ferne Klänge" (Distant Sounds) about his commitment to music in exile was first broadcast. In 2015, he received the Otto Hirsch Award from the state capital of Stuttgart, and in 2020 the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Kolja Lessing teaches as a professor of violin at the Stuttgart University of Music.

In 2022, he completed his doctorate with a thesis on Ignace Strasfogel and has since become a published author.

This evening will feature excerpts from works by Carl Czerny, Joseph Haydn, Martin Herchenröder, Karl Szymanowski and Frédéric Chopin.
