Introducing the Faculty of Education, Architecture and the Arts

Faculty II offers an interdisciplinary constellation that is unique in the German university landscape: In particular, the social, spatial and art-related interfaces between the work of many academics* have led to an increasingly productive dynamic in research and teaching since 2011. Under its founding motto "Shaping Community", the faculty offers a variety of perspectives on a future to be shaped by humanity along the entire life course.

New Neues Frankfurt: Architecture students develop interactive planning game

As part of the project "New Neues Frankfurt - Musterhaus für eine bessere Zukunft", architecture students from the University of Siegen have developed interactive concepts for a contemporary mediation format on the subject of housing. The resulting prototypes are currently on display at the mayhaus in Frankfurt am Main.

Between stable and easel

From May 4 to 11, 2026, Berlin artist Antje Schiffers will be showing how art can be created in the middle of everyday life on a farm as a "wandering guest" at the Irlenhof in Kreuztal. The project is part of the "wanderspace" series of the art department at the University of Siegen.

The Department of Architecture at the University of Siegen had its own stand at this year's "Bachelor and More" fair at The Frame in Düsseldorf on Saturday, April 18, 2026. Between 9:30 and 16:00, numerous prospective students and their parents took the opportunity to obtain comprehensive information about studying architecture in Siegen.

University corridor becomes an art gallery

As part of the "Campus Art" project, students at the University of Siegen have redesigned the corridor to the learning spaces (LEOs) in the Hölderling Building with murals, photos and wallpaper - inspired by the campus itself.

Storytelling in music lessons

Storytelling as a method in music lessons itself has a long history that can be traced back to the end of the 18th century. Different forms of storytelling in music lessons have been realized in different time periods and historical contexts. Insights will be given into a study of the conditions under which storytelling was favored and why it currently tends to be neglected. The lecture also focuses on aspects of research methodology, such as the interlinking of empirical and historical research.
