Study in the USA

A semester at the University of Tulsa

"Overall, my semester abroad at the University of Tulsa was a wonderful experience that I highly recommend to everyone. The memories, personal growth, and friendships you gain from this experience will last a lifetime. The program is really well organized by both universities (Siegen and Tulsa) and offers students a unique opportunity to study at a university in the U.S. without paying tuition. With the University of Tulsa, you also get to experience a university in “real” America and immerse yourself fully in the country’s culture -something that isn’t necessarily possible in the same way on the East or West Coast.”

Study in Korea

A semester at Chonnam National University

"Just the feeling of slowly mastering the language and being able to communicate more and more with the local people - all of that gave me strength and courage. It allowed me to grow and experience beautiful moments day after day. It also gave me the opportunity to learn more about myself as a person, to travel to distant lands, to connect with the local dance community, and to further my dance training. In every way, this trip was a gift to me, and I highly recommend it to everyone."

Your path to adventure! This is how it continues.

Here you find information on what happens after you have registered and received a seat offer.

Important steps

1

Application & admission abroad

Once you have accepted a seat offer, you will be nominated by the International Office abroad. You then apply to the partner university abroad. If your application is successful, you will receive a tuition fee waiver and can start preparing for your trip.
Application deadlines and documents vary depending on the partner university! Check the websites of your partner university via the info portal in good time!

2

Documents before your stay

Before you start your stay, you must submit important documents regarding the planned duration of your studies and the courses you wish to take abroad via our MoveON Outgoing Portal portal. If you receive a PROMOS scholarship, we will issue a scholarship agreement as soon as all documents have been submitted.

3

Starting your studies abroad

Once all the documents have been submitted, you can set off on your journey and start studying abroad! If you receive a PROMOS scholarship, the travel grant will be paid before your departure and the partial scholarship for your stay will be paid monthly.

4

Documents after the stay

After your stay, you need to submit additional documents to confirm the actual duration of your studies as well as your completed (and recognized) academic achievements and share your experiences.

Important Documents

With a seat offer you receive a tuition fee waiver for your studies abroad! The prerequisite for your participation in the Global Exchange Program and, if applicable, the payment of your PROMOS scholarship is the timely submission of important program documents. Before and after your stay, you submit the documents online via our MoveON Outgoing Portal.

Submission Deadlines

  • Before your stay
4 to 6 weeks before the start of your stay

  • After your stay
2 months after the end of your stay or scholarship
For funding in the winter semester: individual documents earlier

Before your studies abroad

Documents required before your departure

Only enrolled students of the University of Siegen can participate in the Global Exchange and PROMOS scholarship program. A current certificate of enrollment confirms your student status. Please download the document via unisono.

If your application abroad is successful, you will receive a letter of acceptance from the partner university by e-mail. This letter of acceptance contains the planned start and end dates. If you receive a PROMOS scholarship, we will use this data to calculate your scholarship duration.

In the Study Agreement, you specify which courses you would like to take during your studies abroad (at least 15 ECTS per semester) and for which modules or module elements of your degree program these courses should be recognized after your return. You can find more information and tips on how to fill in the document in our Notes of Guidance.

After your studies abroad

Documents required after your return

The Confirmation of Stay must be completed by the partner university on the last day of your studies abroad or later. It includes the actual start and end date of your stay for academic purposes.

The Transcript of Records lists all the courses and credits you have attended or completed abroad. The document is issued by the partner university and is usually sent to students by e-mail.

The testimonial should be 1 to 2 pages long and contain information on the planning, preparation and implementation of the studies abroad. Tips on accommodation, living abroad and studying will help other students to choose a suitable partner university. You can find an overview of possible key points in the Notes of Guidance.
