Talent scouting in the context of study and career choice coordination at schoolsSpeaker: Dr. Tim Bernshausen (Central Student Advisory Service of the University of Siegen) Study and career guidance at schools has experienced an enormous increase in importance in recent years, which is evident in legally anchored programs such as "Kein Abschluss ohne Anschluss" (KAOA) in NRW. It is not uncommon for young teachers in particular to be entrusted with the task of study and career choice coordination (StuBo). This workshop will provide a brief introduction to the framework conditions for study and careers guidance in schools. The primary focus is on talent scouting, which has spread from the Ruhr region to more and more areas of NRW and Germany and is also being implemented in the districts of Siegen-Wittgenstein and Olpe. Talent scouting is primarily aimed at pupils from non-academic families and helps to reduce educational inequality. Participants will learn about the concept and its underlying sociological theories and economic implications and reflect on how it can be implemented in everyday school life. - Unisono registration deadline: 1 week before the event date. - To receive a certificate of attendance, please send an e-mail to lehramtplus@zlb.uni-siegen.de. |

Participants should adopt two perspectives when completing the course: On the one hand, looking outwards: What do addiction and addictive substances have to do with my target group? What relevance does this have for my work? Why do young people use? How do I talk to people who use addictive substances? On the other hand, looking inwards: What does the use of addictive substances mean for me personally? What is my own attitude? How do I deal with people who use addictive substances? What does my own consumption behavior look like? Radicalization and prevention of extremism - options for action in direct contact with children and young peopleSpeaker: Saskia Lanser (AJS Kinder- und Jugendschutz NRW) When young people's radicalization is discussed, there is often concern and/or a lack of understanding - is it a phase, a protest or even a convinced turn to an extremist scene? There are basic principles that need to be considered for this topic and its treatment in the youth welfare context. At the same time, findings will be summarized that explain radicalization processes and shed light on them from the perspective of child and youth protection. - Registration deadline: 1 week before the event date. - To receive a certificate of attendance, please send an e-mail to lehramtplus@zlb.uni-siegen.de. |

Legal pressure at school? Challenges and possible courses of action for prospective teachersSpeaker: Emily Ahrens, KomRex, Center for Right-Wing Extremism Research, Democracy Education and Social Integration, Friedrich Schiller University Jena Against the backdrop of current social developments, the lecture will shed light on how to deal with misanthropic and right-wing extremist statements in the school context. Based on empirical findings on political attitudes, problem situations and media use of young people with a special focus on Thuringia, the background and manifestations of misanthropic statements will be classified. The influences of peer groups, parental homes and social media as central socialization instances are also taken into account. In addition, the relevance of school interventions, the legal mandate of teachers and the basic legal framework are discussed. Building on this, practical options for action will be presented in order to be able to react appropriately to such situations in everyday school life. - Registration is not necessary. - To receive a certificate of attendance, please send an e-mail to lehramtplus@zlb.uni-siegen.de. |

Nothing is without context - dealing with "difficult" students and challenging situationsSpeaker: Olaf Albert (teacher, hypno-systemic consultant, PEP® coach) When proven pedagogical measures stagnate, the focus often narrows to the "problem". This workshop invites you to leave the collective problem trance and understand behavior as a circular communication offer. One focus is on hypnosystemic attention control: How does one's own inner state (self-regulation) influence the dynamics in the classroom? We develop strategies for emotion regulation in order to enable co-regulation through professional presence and to create scope for de-escalation. Instead of focusing on changing the student, we start by interrupting patterns and using existing resources. "If something works, do more of it. If not, interrupt the pattern and experiment with something new." - Registration deadline: 1 week before the event date (max. 20 participants). - To receive a certificate of attendance, please send an e-mail to lehramtplus@zlb.uni-siegen.de. |

A clear edge instead of speechlessness: "neutrality requirement" and schoolSpeaker: Pierre Stoltenfeldt (theater educator at the Apollo Theater Siegen) Who doesn't know the gnawing insecurity, especially at the beginning of a career? As a teacher, am I allowed to express my own opinion in class or do I have to remain "neutral"? How do I react when students, colleagues or parents express polemic, polarizing or inhumane positions? What does neutrality really mean in the context of school? In this educational theater workshop, we will take a playful and practical look at the "neutrality requirement" and the associated doubts, fears and gray areas of being a teacher. Together we will explore burning questions: How much attitude can - or must - I show? Where are the legal boundaries (not)? And how do I overcome speechlessness in difficult situations? After an introduction to the content, we will work on specific scenarios from everyday school life using forum theater (Augusto Boal) and improvisational theater: a pupil shouts right-wing slogans in the playground, parents address the teacher about her political stance, a colleague complains about "left-wing indoctrination" among the teaching staff - participants can bring in their own experiences, concerns and observations at any time. In an open, appreciative and performance-free space, we try out options for action together, reflect on the effects and develop the courage and confidence to take a stand and overcome speechlessness. Legal principles serve as orientation. The workshop is aimed at prospective teachers who want more confidence, clarity and room for maneuver when dealing with political and social issues in the school context. The workshop will be led by Pierre Stoltenfeldt, theater educator at the Apollo Theater and the Bruchwerk Theater, who has been working for many years with different age groups on drama, improvisational theater and social issues. - Registration deadline: 1 week before the event date (max. 20 participants). - To receive a certificate of attendance, please send an e-mail to lehramtplus@zlb.uni-siegen.de. |

Using multilingualism as a resource for the academic writing processSpeakers: Ute Reimers, M.A. and Dr. Sonja Sälzer (ZefaS - Center for Academic Writing) The following workshop is part of a series in which each session deals with a central aspect of academic writing during studies. Student teachers can transfer the workshop's findings to writing in schools, especially with regard to the multilingualism of their future pupils. In this session, we will explore the question of how multilingualism can be used as a resource when writing academic texts. We will first define what we mean by "multilingualism" and become aware of our own repertoire of linguistic resources, which goes beyond a categorization of first/second and foreign language. Building on this, we will look at the extent to which multilingualism makes the writing of academic texts more complex and which strategies can be used to ease the burden. We will then discuss how we can specifically use multilingual skills for academic writing. - Registration for the workshop takes place via unisono in the course of registering for the entire ZefaS workshop series, of which only individual dates can be attended (see below). - Certificates of attendance can be requested from ZefaS. |

Migrant Men, Masculinity and Media - On the Construction and Function of NarrativesSpeaker: Fikri Anıl Altıntas (author and HeForShe Germany UN ambassador) The lecture takes a critical look at the media portrayal of migrant-marked masculinities. The focus is on the emergence and impact of stereotyping narratives in journalism, film and pop culture. Historical and current examples will be used to show how masculinity, violence and foreignness are interlinked and made politically useful in times of anti-feminism. The event invites you to question these images and discuss diversity, representation and gender equality in a post-migrant society. - Registration deadline: 1 week before the event date. - The Webex access link will be emailed to participants admitted in unisono the day before the event. - To receive a certificate of attendance, please send an e-mail to lehramtplus@zlb.uni-siegen.de. |

Researching and teaching with AISpeakers: Oliver Hahm (ZFH), Veronika Lichtenwald (UB), Katharina Fritsch (UB) How is AI changing the way we deal with information, learning and teaching? How do I shape the change professionally? In the workshop "Researching and teaching with AI", we show how generative AI tools can be used consciously, reflectively and purposefully in teaching. We will shed light on how AI supports source and material research and where its limitations, risks and pitfalls lie. We will try out practical ways of planning lessons, creating materials and adapting tasks for different learning groups using AI. We will also explore the extent to which AI influences the understanding of the roles of learners and teachers on the one hand and the potential of learning forms and learning environments on the other. The six-hour workshop (including breaks) offers plenty of time for discussion, experimentation and your own questions. You are welcome to bring along specific examples that you would like to work on! - Unisono registration deadline: 1 week before the event date (max. 20 participants). - Certificate of attendance: You will receive your certificate by e-mail from the UB after the event. |

Taking a stand and being neutral in schools - how do they go together?Speaker: Manfred Diekenbrock (GEW education officer, former teacher) The news about wars and conflicts between states and within society is threatening. At the same time, many teachers are worried about speaking out on political issues in the classroom. This event is about the neutrality required of teachers, whose performance of their duties must be fair and open to different opinions. What does it mean in practice when the Education Act "does not tolerate any political, religious, ideological or similar expressions" that "endanger or disturb the neutrality of the country or the peace of the school"? How can teachers defend democracy, reject racism and anti-Semitism without violating the required neutrality? What is meant when the "Beutelsbach Consensus" emphasizes the controversial nature of political education? The workshop offered is intended to help clarify these and other questions. In addition to legal and pedagogical principles, numerous practical examples will serve as illustrative aids. - Registration is possible via the unisono link below. - Certificates of participation are available after the event by sending an e-mail request to diversiteach@zlb.uni-siegen.de. |

De-escalation training - mindful conflict managementSpeaker: Bahman Pournazari (qualified social pedagogue, anti-violence trainer, certified mediator, qualified kickboxing trainer) Conflicts in everyday pedagogical life are often viewed with the claim that they can be solved primarily through professional knowledge and rational argumentation. But this is a common misconception: in moments of heightened tension, our knowledge often becomes disconnected. Cognitive abilities such as analysis and changing perspective are blocked - our nervous system switches from rational thinking to impulsive action. In such situations, automatic reaction patterns take over: Fight, Flight, Freeze and Fawn. Pedagogical professionalism therefore requires not only expertise, but above all the ability to regulate oneself. Mindful conflict management does not view conflicts as disruptions, but as opportunities for self-reflection and the further development of one's own authentic, professional presence. This approach promotes an attitude that works both internally and externally: attentive, clear, stable and free from impulsive reactivity. - Registration deadline: 1 week before the event date (min. 6 participants, max. 20 participants). - To receive a certificate of attendance, please send an e-mail to lehramtplus@zlb.uni-siegen.de. |

AI and literature research (basics)Speakers: Veronika Lichtenwald (University Library), Katharina Fritsch (University Library) The two-part workshop "AI and literature research" teaches how generative AI tools can be used specifically and responsibly for scientific research. In the first part (basics), the central principles of generative AI are presented. The focus is on opportunities and risks - for example in relation to data protection, copyright and bias - as well as criteria for a reflected and responsible use of AI-supported applications in studies. In the second part (in-depth), the focus is on practical application: participants will expand their knowledge of prompting, test various AI-supported research tools (including licensed offers from Siegen University Library) and develop a viable research strategy for their own topic at various stations. - Registration: Link to the event page (see below). Reflecting on Future Skills for a Multiple Crises Society - Liberation in Dystopia?Speaker: Prof. Dr. Robert Pfützner, HSAP Berlin The idea of future skills comes from a business-oriented and, in a sense, future-optimistic milieu that assumes that current social developments will continue in the future. Although "disruption" and "radical change" are considered, this thinking remains fundamentally fixed on economic growth and a market-based economy within the framework of globalized nation states. However, it remains questionable whether this is the framework within which our future will unfold. The multiple crises we find ourselves in (global warming, species extinction, massive social inequalities, erosion of liberal democracies and international law, etc.) seem to call into question the current concept of future skills. Perhaps schools, teacher training, and pedagogy in general need to ask the question about the future in a radically different way. What challenges will we face in the coming dystopian future, which may turn out to be completely different after all? And: does dystopia automatically mean "worse"? Perhaps there is also a moment (or several moments) of liberation and emancipation in dystopia? Drawing from the work of philosopher Bruno Latour and literary and cultural scholar Peggy Piesche, I aim to develop theses on an alternative form of future skills. These skills are primarily characterized by a commitment to caring for one another and earth and ensuring human survival with dignity, as well as a critical stance toward power and discrimination. These theses will be discussed with the participants at the end of the session. - To receive a certificate of attendance, please send an e-mail to lehramtplus@zlb.uni-siegen.de. |

Traumatized children and adolescents at school and in the classroomSpeaker: Katja Liever-Manthey (special needs teacher with the FSP ESE in a special needs school ESE and in inclusion, lecturer for special educational support and inclusion at the Institute for Teacher Training) Not only children and young people with experiences of war and flight can be affected by traumatization - other (violent) experiences can also leave lasting traces. At school, this stress often manifests itself in unpredictable behavior and is often perceived as behavioral problems or a need for special educational support. This poses a particular challenge for trainee teachers: Between caring, uncertainty and excessive demands, it is important to act professionally. This course provides basic knowledge about the development of trauma and its effects on the inner experience and behavior of children and young people. It also addresses how schools can develop in a trauma-sensitive way in order to be a safe place for everyone. There is also a special focus on the role of the teacher: how can you deal with stressful situations without overburdening yourself?
