Kick-off for the ZIGS cluster "Health in the Region"
The first cluster meeting of the "Health in the Region" cluster took place on March 23, 2026 as part of the Center for Interdisciplinary Health Research (ZIGS). The meeting was moderated by the cluster spokespersons Julia Haberstroh, Olaf Gaus and Stephan Krayter. The aim of the meeting was to discuss and further develop central structures, subject areas and forms of collaboration in the new research cluster.
The meeting focused in particular on the future organization of cooperation in the cluster. Discussions included regular exchange meetings, the involvement of early career researchers and practice partners as well as possible roles and coordination structures. The specific organization is currently still in the coordination process.
Another focus was the identification and discussion of thematic working groups. Here, too, the final structure is still open and will be developed further together.
The participating members also used the meeting to present their professional backgrounds, current projects and expectations of the cluster. The kick-off highlighted the great potential for interdisciplinary networking and practical research in the region.
The first cluster meeting was an important step towards establishing the "Health in the Region" cluster. The next meetings are already planned at regular intervals in order to further concretize the cooperation and advance joint research activities.
